VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT NHI

Thank you for visiting NHI's Volunteer Services page. NHI volunteers are crucial in our continuing fight to end homelessness, HIV/AIDS and at risk adults and youths in New York City. We look to you to help us in our mission and efforts.
Volunteer positions vary widely, from helping a client move into his/her new apartment, assisting NHI staff while they conduct workshops, painting apartments for clients, or even assisting our staff during fundraising events and special projects. We're confident we will find something that fits your
interest and availability.
Some volunteers may want to bring their children along with them while volunteering.  However, due to the nature of our client needs, most volunteer positions are only appropriate for people 18 years of age or older. Therefore, we request that you do not bring children to volunteering opportunities.  However, be assured there are exceptions and we do encourage you to still contact us so that we can discuss this in more detail.
If you have a special skill and would like to offer it to NHI, please feel free to contact us. You never know what we might need, whether it's creating web pages, writing a newsletter, or teaching our clients arts and crafts. Some jobs require specific skill-sets, but others are really up to what you can bring. So email us and let us know what you can offer.
If you have a question, please feel free to contact us at (718) 863-2514 or send an email to

Thank you for considering NHI as your choice for volunteerism. It's people like you that truly enhance the work we do within the community.
Please understand that all volunteer positions do require that you have an understanding of the population that NHI serves. You should have empathy and compassion, and above all else, respect for the men and women in all of our programs.
